As Grayson turns two in a few days, we decided this was the right time to take his crib down and put a big boy bed in his room. For a week or two I've been dreading it. His crib is a place that I know he can't get out of. I know he is comfortable. I know he is safe. Most importantly, I know he will sleep in it. His new bed was going to be something that I had little optimism for. Trina and I had many conversations about how this was too early, but we needed to take the crib down. We didn't want to just move it to the baby's room. Grayson wouldn't understand why we gave away his bed to the new kid. So yesterday Grayson and I took his crib apart and put together his big boy bed. I think having him see the crib get taken apart and put away was a big part of the initial success. I say initial because his first nap was better than expected. The first time he slept in it overnight was a different story.

When the kids were young we always spent a night during the Christmas
season to ooh and aah over Christmas lights and go out to supper. It was a
tradition...
