Dog Sitting

Most of the time Grayson loves that Nana and Grandpa left their dog with us.

Elf

Grayson touched Tootsie Roll last week and she lost her magic. Lucky for us we called Santa and he told us how to get her to fly. It took three days of sitting in the same place, but she is on the move again. Oddly enough I didn't get a picture of her those three days.

Elf on the Shelf

Santa sent us an elf to see if Grayson, Maddux and Trina were being nice this year. He knew I was going to behave, so our elf doesn't need to watch me.

Since the elf was going to live here for a month we decided to let Grayson name her. He picked the name Tootsie Roll. I wanted to name her Robin Sparkles (How I Met Your Mother), but this wasn't my call.

See what Tootsie Roll has been up to...

Maddux is six!

Our little boy is quickly turning into our other big boy. Today the doctor told us that he is 28 inches long and 19 lbs, 14 oz. That is the 90th percentile and 83rd percentile respectively. At 6 months he is just 11 pounds shy of Grayson. G turns 3 in a few months.

Indoor baseball

Trina made Grayson an indoor baseball bat. She used a pool noodle with a dowel inserted for strength. She then shaped it and added packing tape to prevent it from falling apart.

Not a pinterest find. This was all Trina.

Stay in bed!

When Grayson stays in bed we put a sticker on a chart. When he gets five stickers we get to do something fun. This is what we did tonight.

Check out his mini golf score card. Those are scores adults would be happy with.

Maddux's first real food

He is just over 4 months old and we decided that the little guy is ready to eat at the big boy table.

Our Bikes

Trina and I decided to ride RAGBRAI next year.  We haven't gone on a vacation since before we got married four years ago.  So the two of us are going to try to ride across Iowa in the July heat.  This is Trina's new bike. I'm pretty jealous of it.  It's a 2013 Specialized Dulce.  This bike is really fast compared to what we have been riding.  I have a feeling that Trina is going to be getting to the next town before me every time.
This is our trailer.  We can hook it up to either of our bikes.  It seats two people, as long as both can sit up on their own.  Right now we can either put Maddux in his car seat and strap him in (we haven't tried that yet), or just let Grayson sit in it alone.
This is the Huffy I bought for Trina when we started dating.  It's as heavy as a couch and shifts like skateboard.  However it is basically brand new.  Trina didn't like it and then she got pregnant.  It sat in storage for the better part of three years.
This is my Specialized Rock Hopper.  I have had this for about five years.  Trina and I took turns riding this until she got her new bike this weekend.  We would put Grayson on the back of it and ride the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.
This is Grayson's bike.  He can ride it quite a long way.  This week he went about a mile to go see "diggers" near our house.  He wears a helmet, knee, wrist and elbow pads when he rides.
This is the next bike we are going to give Grayson.  It only has one wheel and hooks onto the back of my bike.  Tyler and Taya had one for their girls and said it was hard to balance.  I don't know how old Grayson will be before we let him try it.  Maybe next summer, but most likely the summer that he turns four.
This week we decided that Grayson is too big to ride behind me on the bike chair.  I will try to let Maddux use it next year.  I had a lot of fun riding with Grayson when he was just one.  As long as it is not so hot, Maddux will love it.  You also might notice that there are three seats in this photo.  We have a good one, a broken version of the good one and one that we will never use.
And then there is this bike...  I have seen my neighbor ride this bike often.  I had never gotten too close to it, but assumed it was a nice bike.  When he moved to Oregon he offered it to me.  I said yes without looking at it.  It's in terrible shape.  And now it's taking up space in my garage.  Thanks Kirt!

Marshall Weekend

We went to Marshall Municipal Utilities to check out the big trucks.  Grayson is in love with "diggers" and dump trucks.  He couldn't have been more excited to "drive" them.

Tim and Erin came to Marshall to visit my parents.  The last time we saw Birgen she was less than a month old.
